Book Review | Days Of Blood And Starlight
Days Of Blood And Starlight by Laini Taylor
Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a world free of bloodshed and war. This is not that world.
Now that Karou knows the truth of who she is she must decide how far she will go to avenge her people. She finds herself on opposite sides to Akiva in a war that is raging on. Karou is building a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight while Akiva is looking for redemption and hope. Filled with heartbreak, secrets and impossible choices.
This is the second book in the series, Daughter Of Smoke And Bone being the first.
While I was a little disappointed with the first book this one really surprised me as I couldn’t get enough. The storyline has really picked up pace and there is a lot more action as well as seeing the shifting dynamics of Karou and Akiva’s relationship. There were some surprising moments and I became very invested in the characters. Karou has grown on me in this book and as I look back the feeling I got from the previous book is probably because she doesn’t know who she is and now she does there is a fierceness and strength that comes forth in a much different way.
I loved getting to know more about the Chimaera and Zuzanna’s appearances were always entertaining. The ending has left me eager to read the next book Dreams Of Gods and Monsters.
I am giving this book 4 stars. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy and romance. Although I found the first book slow it does really set the ground work for understanding and being able to enjoy this one.
